‘Emerging’ was an experiment in painting something unfamiliar to me at the time. It’s the first UFO I’ve painted, driven by a long-standing curiosity about the unknown and the imagery that lives in science fiction.
I worked from memory rather than reference, focusing on the moment of arrival—the craft breaking through the clouds and scattering color as it enters the sky. Instead of precision, I let the atmosphere lead, allowing motion, light, and disruption to shape the composition.
The result leans naturally toward an expressionist, outsider sensibility, guided more by feeling than explanation.
