‘IF I CAN SEE IT, I CAN CHANGE IT’ was created during recovery from surgery related to a chronic bone disease. With my dominant arm immobilized, the painting was made entirely with my non-dominant hand—a physical limitation that mirrored the mental strain of the moment.
The work reflects the experience of confronting fear in real time: seeing anxiety clearly, understanding what might help, yet struggling to fully apply that knowledge under pressure. Old trauma resurfaced, complicating the process, but observation itself became a form of resilience. Being able to witness the panic—rather than disappear into it—was a quiet victory.
This piece holds space for that imperfect progress. It acknowledges that change doesn’t always arrive cleanly or all at once, and that awareness alone can sometimes be enough to carry us through the hardest moments.
