‘George Floyd’ was painted in response to a moment that forced a lot of people, myself included, to stop and reckon with an ongoing injustice. The violence, the loss, and the grief surrounding it were impossible to ignore.
This portrait was my way of acknowledging a life taken and the weight of that moment, while still holding space for hope. Hope matters—not as an excuse to move on too quickly, but as the thing that keeps people engaged, paying attention, and pushing for change.
This work is part of my Without Words body of work.
