'GALLILEO'S' Limited Edition Fine Art Giclee Print

This limited edition fine art giclee print is part of my Early Works Collection.  This painting depicts one of my favorite places from my early 20's, Galileo's, which as I recall was a restaurant/bar tucked away in an arts district.  I have fond memories of attending open mike nights and poetry nights there.  After moving back east, and hearing that the establishment had closed, I decided to try to recreate it on canvas.

I remember being quite proud of how I painted the floor, even though I'm pretty sure that the actual floor wasn't that color.  Recently, I also noticed that I misspelled the name on the sign!  Ha!  I could fix it, but I am actually embracing that mistake and the much younger artist who made it.  And I'm really proud overall of how this came out, especially since I painted it from memory.

Looking at this now, its striking how empty it is.  It was actually never this empty.  There were always rows of occupied chairs crowding the stage.  I think at the moment it was enough for me to paint the singer on the stage.  I felt like I was hitting above my weight.  The intimidation of having to render an audience is probably why this room appears empty.  But sometimes, a performance can be so engaging, that the mind shuts out all external distractions.  Have you ever seen a show and somewhere in there felt like it was just for you?  Like all of the other people aren't there and somehow this performer has peered deep into your being and is now communicating directly with your soul?  Those performances are magic and I hope you all can experience at least one.

Until then, you can always experience this painting, as a limited edition, collectable giclee print.

This print is made with archival quality pigments printed on Moab Entrada 190 Bright paper.  This print comes in either 8.5x11" or 4x6" sizes.  Each variant is a limited run edition of 40 prints, with each print being numbered and signed by the artist.  The 8.5x11" are the first edition, and the 4x6" are the 2nd edition.  Both sized prints are shipped in a protective cellophane sleeve.
